Getting Started

The basics of creating your account, navigating the dashboard, and choosing your role.

How do I create an account?
  1. Go to holoviewmedia.com/login and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your email, password, business name, phone number, and address.
  3. Click Create Account — you'll be logged in immediately.

One account gives you access to both advertiser and host features — no separate registrations needed.

Why do I need to verify my email?
Email verification is required to unlock ad creation and fund withdrawals. This protects the platform from spam and ensures payouts go to real accounts. Check your inbox for a verification link after signing up — or click Resend Email from the dashboard banner.
What's the difference between Advertiser and Host mode?
  • Advertiser mode — Create and manage ad campaigns. Upload media, target screens on a map, set schedules, and track plays.
  • Host mode — Register and manage physical screens. Pair devices, monitor uptime, and earn revenue from ads displayed on your screens.

Switch between modes using the toggle at the top of the sidebar. Both modes share the same account and wallet balance.

How do I navigate the dashboard?
The sidebar on the left contains all major sections:
  • Dashboard — Your main overview with stats, ads (or screens), and quick actions.
  • Billing — Transaction history, earnings reports, and export tools.
  • Account — Update your business name, phone, and address.

Notifications appear via the bell icon at the top of the sidebar.

Running Campaigns

Everything about creating ads, using the campaign builder, and tracking performance.

What media formats can I upload?
Holoview supports:
  • Images — PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF

For best results use landscape orientation (16:9). The system handles delivery and caching to every target screen automatically.

How do I create a campaign?
  1. Click "Create Ad" on the advertiser dashboard.
  2. Upload your media — Choose an image file.
  3. Set your details — Name your campaign, add a destination URL or phone number, and write a headline.
  4. Select screens on the map — Pick individual screens or draw a region to target. You can filter by category (restaurants, retail, etc.).
  5. Choose a frequency tier — Diamond (most frequent) through Bronze (least frequent). Higher tiers mean more plays per hour.
  6. Set your schedule — Choose start/end dates, active days, and active hours.
  7. Review your quote — See the exact cost before committing. Click Launch to go live.
What are frequency tiers?
Frequency tiers control how often your ad plays per hour on each screen:
  • Diamond — Once per minute (highest exposure, highest cost)
  • Gold — Once every 2 minutes
  • Silver — Once every 4 minutes
  • Bronze — Once every 8 minutes (lowest cost)

Pricing is dynamic — rates adjust based on how full each screen's ad inventory is. You'll always see the exact rate before committing.

How do QR codes work?
Every ad automatically gets a free QR code that displays alongside your creative on-screen. Viewers can scan it to:
  • Visit your website URL
  • Call your phone number

Each scan is tracked and reported in your dashboard, so you can see exactly which screens and locations drive the most engagement. QR tracking is included at no extra cost.

Why was my ad flagged or rejected?
All uploaded media goes through an automated content moderation scan to check for inappropriate material (nudity, explicit content). If your ad is flagged:
  • Pending Review — Your ad is queued for manual review by the admin team.
  • Rejected — The content was found to violate our guidelines. You'll need to upload a different image.
  • Approved — Your ad passed moderation and will play normally.

Ad status is visible on your campaign card in the dashboard.

How do scheduling and active hours work?
When creating a campaign, you can set:
  • Date range — Start and end dates for your campaign.
  • Active days — Which days of the week your ad should play (e.g., weekdays only).
  • Active hours — Which hours of the day your ad should play (e.g., 8 AM – 6 PM).

Outside your scheduled window, your ad will show as "Off-Hours" on the dashboard. You can also manually pause and resume any campaign at any time using the ⏸/▶ buttons.

Hosting Screens

How to pair a screen, manage your devices, and start earning revenue.

How do I pair a screen?
  1. Switch to Host mode in the sidebar.
  2. Click Register Screen (the + card).
  3. Enter your screen's address, category, and business name. Click Start Pairing.
  4. A 6-digit pairing code is generated. Open the ad player URL on your screen device (Raspberry Pi, laptop, smart TV, any device with a browser).
  5. The player will display a code entry field — type in the 6-digit code.
  6. Once paired, the screen automatically starts receiving and displaying ads.
What hardware do I need?

A Raspberry Pi is the recommended and most popular option for hosting a screen. However, Holoview works on any device with a modern web browser — laptops, smart TVs, tablets, old desktops, etc.

Recommended Raspberry Pi setup:

  • Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 (2GB RAM minimum)
  • MicroSD card (16GB+)
  • HDMI cable to your TV or monitor
  • Stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
  • Set the browser to open holoviewmedia.com/player in fullscreen/kiosk mode on boot
How do I manage my screen's settings?
Click on any screen card in your Host dashboard to open the Edit Display modal. From there you can:
  • Update the business name
  • Set business hours for each day of the week — the screen is only considered "active" during these hours for reliability scoring

The address and category are locked after pairing because they affect advertiser targeting. To change them, delete the screen and re-pair.

Can I block certain ads from my screen?
Yes! Each screen has a Content Blocking panel. You can block at three levels:
  • By category — Block all ads from a specific business category.
  • By advertiser — Block all ads from a specific business.
  • By individual ad — Block a specific ad only.

Blocked ads will never play on that screen. You can unblock at any time.

What is the reliability score?
The reliability score measures what percentage of your scheduled business hours your screen was online and serving ads. It's calculated hourly based on heartbeats your screen sends to the network.
  • A score of 100% means your screen was online for every scheduled hour.
  • Hours outside your set business hours don't count against you.
  • Higher reliability can lead to more advertisers targeting your screen.

Billing & Payments

How the wallet, pricing, and host earnings work.

How does the wallet work?
Holoview uses a unified wallet for all transactions. As an advertiser, you add funds to your wallet and campaigns deduct from it as your ads play. As a host, you earn revenue directly into your wallet from confirmed ad plays on your screens.
  • Click + Add Funds on the dashboard to deposit.
  • Click Withdraw to request a payout (requires email verification).

Your balance is shared between advertiser and host mode — it's the same account.

How is pricing determined?
Holoview uses dynamic pricing that automatically adjusts based on market conditions. Rates are calculated based on:
  • Screen demand — Higher fill rates increase the price per play.
  • Frequency tier — Diamond costs more than Bronze because your ad plays more often.
  • Time of day — Rates can vary by hour based on inventory availability.

You always see the exact price before committing. The campaign builder shows a real-time quote based on your selections.

How do hosts earn money?
Hosts earn a revenue share from every confirmed ad play on their screens. Revenue is credited to your wallet in real-time. You can track:
  • Lifetime earnings per screen on the host dashboard.
  • Monthly earnings in the Billing section.
  • Transaction details — export full earning reports as CSV.

The more screens you host and the higher their reliability, the more you earn.

How do I withdraw my earnings?
  1. Make sure your email is verified (withdrawals are gated behind verification).
  2. Click the Withdraw button on the dashboard.
  3. Enter the amount you'd like to withdraw.
  4. Your withdrawal request is processed and the funds are deducted from your wallet.
Where can I see my transaction history?
Go to the Billing section in the sidebar. You'll find:
  • A summary of total spend, total earned, and current balance.
  • A full transaction log with dates, amounts, and descriptions.
  • Export buttons to download your data as CSV files for accounting.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to fix them.

My screen shows "Offline" — what do I do?
An offline status means the screen hasn't sent a heartbeat recently. Try:
  1. Check the internet connection on the screen device.
  2. Refresh the player page in the browser on the device.
  3. Restart the device (power cycle the Raspberry Pi or computer).
  4. Make sure the browser is pointed to holoviewmedia.com/player.

The screen will automatically reconnect and resume playing ads once it's back online. No re-pairing needed.

My ad isn't playing — why?
Check these common causes:
  • Campaign paused — Make sure the ad status is "Active" (not paused).
  • Outside schedule — Verify your active days and hours include the current time.
  • Expired — If the end date has passed, the ad will show as "Expired."
  • Pending moderation — If the ad shows "Pending Review" it hasn't been approved yet.
  • Rejected — If the ad was rejected by moderation, upload new media.
  • Budget depleted — Check if your wallet balance has funds remaining.
  • Target screen offline — The screen your ad targets may be offline.
QR code isn't working — what should I check?
  • Make sure the destination URL you entered is valid and publicly accessible (starts with https://).
  • If using a phone number, verify it's formatted correctly.
  • Try scanning with a different QR reader app or your phone's native camera.
  • The QR code links through Holoview's tracking redirect — make sure your device has internet access.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?
  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click "Forgot Password?" below the password field.
  3. Enter your email address and submit.
  4. Check your inbox for a password reset link — click it to set a new password.

If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or contact support.

Which browsers are supported?
Holoview works best on modern browsers:
  • Google Chrome (recommended for both dashboard and player)
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari (macOS / iOS)

For the ad player (on Raspberry Pi or display devices), Chromium in kiosk mode is the recommended setup for the best full-screen experience.
